About 6,000 new TB patients registered in Kyrgyzstan annually

About 6,000 new cases of tuberculosis are registered in Kyrgyzstan annually. Representatives of the Compulsory Medical Insurance Fund said at a press conference, referring to the data of the National Phthisiology Center.

Last year, the Compulsory Medical Insurance Fund has developed a new method for the successful treatment of this ailment. The project was implemented in Chui region.

«Medical workers receive increment for successful completion of treatment of a patient with tuberculosis under new method. The amount of payment depends on the complexity of the case and is 12,000 for curing a patient with susceptibility to tuberculosis and 24,000 — for curing a drug resistant form of tuberculosis. Up to date, more than 670 patients have successfully completed their treatment, 100 of them had a drug resistant form of tuberculosis. Financing of the completed treatment amounted to 10,248 million soms,» said the deputy chairman of the fund Akylbek Kalykov.
