Volodin: Relations between Kyrgyzstan and Russia base on mutual assistance

«The relations between Kyrgyzstan and Russia are built on friendship, mutual assistance and cooperation, and not on benefits," Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin said during a meeting with the Speaker of Parliament of Kyrgyzstan Chynybai Tursunbekov.

Vyacheslav Volodin remembered that he had met with his colleague for the third time for some time past. He noted that the issues that the Chairman of the State Duma and the Speaker of Parliament had discussed today in a narrow format have already accumulated.

»Kyrgyzstan is a strategic partner for us. And this is always emphasized by our leaders. Our task is to ensure the legislative implementation of the agreements reached at the highest level. As for the parliamentary level, we need to address those issues that affect the interaction of our countries. Relations between Russia and Kyrgyzstan are time-proved. The decision to write off debts says that we are thinking about the future and that the relationship is not built on any advantage, but on the basis of friendship and cooperation. Our relations are built on mutual understanding, mutual assistance and support," Vyacheslav Volodin assured.

He also added that the nature of the issues that the parties discuss, says that there are problems. And they should be solved at the parliamentary level, proceeding from the fact that many citizens of Kyrgyzstan are in Russia and face problems related to their stay, performance of labor duties.

Vyacheslav Volodin noted the need to establish inter-parliamentary contacts. He considers it proper to hold joint meetings of the committees in order to «then transfer these questions to the executive branch and find some solutions.»

He told that the delegation that arrived in Kyrgyzstan included, in addition to the State Duma deputies, members of the regional parliaments. Vyacheslav Volodin stressed that the sides need to establish inter-regional cooperation, citing as example the recent visit to Ufa and Kazan by the President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev.
