Deadline for participation in tender for construction of small HPPs extended

The deadline for submitting applications to participate in the tender for the construction of small hydropower plants was extended. The State Committee of Industry, Energy and Subsoil Use reported.

Applications are accepted until June 13 in connection with the decision of the interdepartmental tender commission on holding tenders for the right to build small hydropower plants.

Legal entities of Kyrgyzstan, as well as foreign legal entities can participate in the tender. In case a foreign legal entity is determined winner of the tender (prior to the conclusion of an agreement on the right to build a small HPP), the winner must establish a subsidiary commercial organization registered in the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The deputies of Parliament have already spoken out against the announced tender. According to Kurmankul Zulushev, the decision contradicts the law on electric power industry. Many people themselves buy land to build small power plants there. Recently, a mini-hydroelectric power plant for 3 megawatts was built in Kemin. And then the State Committee decided to set up small hydropower plants for a tender.
