Constitution's norms to be violated if elections held on November 19

If the presidential elections are held on November 19, then the norms of the Constitution will be violated, MP of Ata Meken faction Aida Salyanova said today at a press conference.

According to her, when appointing the elections in 2011, the Parliament provided 62 calendar days for the procedures. «As it was planned, the elections were scheduled for October 30, 2011. President of the transition period Roza Otunbayeva was to leave on December 31. In our case, there are 12 days. It is impossible to conduct all the procedures for these days," Aida Salyanova said.

She added that the appointment of the elections on November 19 contradicts to the Constitution. «This will lead to destabilization and challenge to all decisions that will be taken after the six-year presidential term. If the Parliament doesn’t appoint an election day until April 26, in accordance with the law «On the election of the President and the Parliament," elections are considered to be appointed. In such cases, the day that follows termination of the election date is considered to be the day for election's appointment. This day will be April 27,» Aida Salyanova said.
