The Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to Malaysia Anvar Anarbaev met with the Mayor of Kuala Lumpur Maimunah Mohd Sharif on April 14. The press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.
Issues of establishing sister city relations between the capitals of Kyrgyzstan and Malaysia were discussed during the meeting. In addition, the parties exchanged views on the possibilities of cooperation and exchange of experience between the two municipalities in the field of urban infrastructure development, landscaping, public transport, improving the environmental situation and long-term planning.
The Malaysian side expressed their readiness to consider the possibility of organizing trainings and advanced training courses for employees of Kyrgyzstan’s City Hall.
In connection with the upcoming celebration of the 100th anniversary of Chingiz Aitmatov’s birth in 2028, the Ambassador also proposed to the Mayor to name one of the streets of the Malaysian capital in honor of the outstanding Kyrgyz writer.
