Pastry Chefs from Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan make 2.10-meter-tall cake

A team of 15 pastry chefs — representatives of the World Federation of Restaurant Sport (WFRS) from Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan — made a cake weighing 200 kilograms and 2.10 meters high in Dushanbe. This is a new world record in the category «Tallest Cake with a National Theme». The record was registered by representatives of the Eurasian Rating Agency (ERA).

Before the record-breaking cake was presented to the public in the Abulkasim Firdavsi Park during the Mehrgon holiday last Sunday, it was slowly transported from the restaurant in the back of a truck.

It took a few more minutes to place the cake on the table. After that, a sweet copy of the monument to the founder of the first Tajik state, Ismail Somoni, was placed on a special rotating platform on top of the cake.

The confectionery product consisted of several tiers tapering towards the top. The square base with a side of 1.1 meters was framed by 20 gingerbread figures in the form of Tajikistan’s landmarks. Two more round tiers decorated with national ornaments were installed on it, as well as more than 300 elements made of marshmallow and stylized as watermelons, melons, grapes and various fruits that are grown in the republic.

It took the confectioners four days to make this cake.

«160 eggs, 25 kilograms of sugar, 45 kilograms of sugar paste, several kilograms of flour — this is for the marshmallow. Plus about 30 liters of juice and everything else — 1, 3, 5, 9 kilograms, but no more,» the pastry chef Natalie Vi, who participated in making the cake, told.

According to her, this cake can feed from 100 to 200 people. Making of the cake was timed to coincide with World Chef’s Day and the Tajik national harvest festival Mehrgon, which was celebrated in the country on October 20.
