Deputies of Parliament meet with members of House of Lords in the UK

A group of deputies of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan went on a working trip to the UK and met with members of the House of Lords. The press service of the Parliament of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

The group of deputies, headed by the Deputy Speaker Nurlanbek Azygaliev, includes Cholpon Sultanbekova, Marlen Mamataliev, Dastan Bekeshev, Gulsharkan Kultaeva, Dastanbek Dzhumabekov, Elvira Surabaldieva, as well as the Chief of Staff of the Parliament Shabdanbek Alishev.

The MPs met with the Head of the Office of Interparliamentary Relations, familiarized themselves with the structure of the UK Parliament and visited the UK Parliament building.

The Kyrgyz MPs also met with the Deputy Speaker of the House of Lords — Lord McNicol, Deputy of the House of Commons Daniel Kawczynski, member of the House of Lords Baroness Alison Mary Suttie. They discussed the expansion of inter-parliamentary relations, exchange of experience in the spheres of lawmaking and control of law enforcement.

«The Deputy Speaker Nurlanbek Azygaliev noted that Kyrgyzstan is interested in cooperation with Great Britain in all areas, paying special attention to issues in the development of political-economic, cultural and humanitarian ties. He pointed out that with the expansion of inter-parliamentary ties it is necessary to actively develop bilateral cooperation, adding that Great Britain, with its form of government as a parliamentary monarchy, has extensive experience in this direction,» the statement says.

Lord McNicol noted that Kyrgyzstan, among the countries of Central Asia, is a state with significant achievements in the development of democracy. He also dwelled on the priority areas of bilateral cooperation.

The parties discussed issues related to the development of the Code of Parliamentary Ethics.
