Decree banning money collection in schools of Kyrgyzstan issued

The Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan signed a decree on the implementation of the Presidential Decree on measures to ensure state guarantees of the realization of the right of children to receive free school education, dated May 26, 2023 No. 136. The Ministry of Education reported.

According to the document, «persons who allowed the illegal collection of funds in state and municipal educational organizations bear responsibility under the legislation of the Kyrgyz Republic on offenses.»

The decree provides for the Ministry of Finance to allocate 557,158 million soms in 2023 for the repair, security and purchase of household items needed by state educational organizations, and by local government bodies and local state administrations, the City Halls of Bishkek and Osh — to municipal ones.

The resolution comes into force seven days from the date of its official publication.

In May, President Sadyr Japarov signed a decree on measures to ensure state guarantees of the realization of children’s right to receive free school education — illegal collection of funds and creation of public are prohibited in state educational organizations (grades 1-11).
