The Kyrgyz Parliament’s vote to remove Atyr Abdrakhmatova following her report on the state of human rights and freedoms in the Kyrgyz Republic raises concerns about the government’s commitment to transparency and accountability. The U.S. Embassy posted on Twitter.
It is inconsistent with the Kyrgyz Republic’s membership in the Human Rights Council, the Embassy added.
«The Office of the Ombudsman plays an essential role in upholding the rule of law and promoting good governance,» the Embassy said.
The Parliament of Kyrgyzstan supported the dismissal of Atyr Abdrakhmatova from office. 50 deputies voted for, five against.
