«In a rapidly changing world, our regional cooperation becomes a more influential and effective tool in modern interstate relations,» said the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov, speaking at an extraordinary summit of the heads of the member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Ankara (Republic of Turkey).
In his speech, he noted that the summit was taking place in a special situation. The entire world community was shocked by the news of the earthquake in southern Turkey, which caused huge destruction and human casualties.
The head of state expressed condolences to the leader and people of the country. Taking the opportunity, he thanked the Kazakh and Uzbek brothers for their help in the evacuation of Kyrgyzstan’s citizens who stayed in the affected areas of Turkey.
Sadyr Japarov also noted that the Kyrgyz side attaches great importance to regular high-level meetings between the member states of the organization, and a high level of political dialogue between countries is maintained. According to him, for a short period of its existence, the OTS has become an effective mechanism that develops cooperation between peoples and member states, clearly demonstrating solidarity and unity in the international arena.
«In a rapidly changing world, our regional partnership becomes a more influential and effective tool in modern interstate relations. Once again, I note that the Kyrgyz Republic attaches priority to its activities in the organization. I am sure that under the chairmanship of fraternal Uzbekistan, we will achieve new successes,» the president added.
He stressed that in connection with the recent unfortunate events in Turkey, it became necessary to create a mechanism for collective warning and forecasting of crisis situations. In this regard, the initiative of the Turkish side to create a mechanism for the civil protection of the Turkic states through the Ministries of Emergency Situations is welcomed. Kyrgyzstan is always ready to share its experience in this area and contribute to the common cause of prevention and elimination of the consequences of natural disasters. Being a mountainous country, the Kyrgyz Republic is also prone to natural disasters, such as earthquakes, landslides, rockfalls, mudflows, floods, flooding, avalanches.
In addition, the issue of strengthening cooperation in the economic, transport and energy areas of interaction was raised, which implies the need to take specific measures to increase trade, build up investment partnership, and implement projects of mutual interest.
Sadyr Japarov added that the opportunities between individual OTS countries are not fully used due to the presence of barriers that hinder the growth of trade in the region. In this context, further development of trade and economic relations within the framework of the organization is of great interest to Kyrgyzstan.
