The Committee on Constitutional Legislation approved the candidacy of former member of the Central Election Commission of Kyrgyzstan (CEC) Atyr Abdrakhmatova for the post of Ombudsman of Kyrgyzstan.
The decision of the committee was sent for consideration at a plenary meeting on February 24.
She was nominated by four factions — Ata Zhurt Kyrgyzstan, Ishenim, Butun Kyrgyzstan and Yntymak.
As Atyr Abdrakhmatova herself said earlier, she applied to all factions, four supported her.
Ex-Ombudsman Tokon Mamytov resigned on October 18, 2021 due to his participation in the parliamentary elections.
Atyr Abdrakhmatova has already run for the post of Ombudsman: in 2015, she was nominated by Respublika-Ata Zhurt faction. According to the results of the third round, only 46 deputies voted for her candidacy and 69 MPs voted against.
