Restrictions for labor migrants from Kyrgyzstan lifted in 3 regions of Russia

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan sent out an explanation regarding the introduction of a ban on employment of labor migrants in a number of sectors in some regions of the Russian Federation.

According to the ministry, such rules were introduced in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, as well as in Tyumen and Kaluga Oblasts of Russia. It is forbidden to employ citizens of foreign countries in trade, public transport and public catering sectors in these regions.

In this regard, the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Russian Federation noted that these restrictions do not apply to Kyrgyz citizens.

«In accordance with paragraph 2 of Article 97 of the Treaty on the EAEU, the member states do not impose or apply any restrictions established by their legislation to protect the national labor market, except for the limitations set by this treaty,» the diplomatic mission reminded.

Russia has tightened migration legislation since the beginning of the year. According to the new requirements, migrants, including those from Kyrgyzstan, have to undergo medical examination every three to four months, which costs 5,000-6,000 rubles. In addition, foreigners entering Russia to work, including citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic, must undergo state dactyloscopic registration and photographing within 30 days.

As part of the medical examination, foreigners are checked for the use of narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances, as well as the presence of infectious diseases.
