A new Ombudsman will be elected in Kyrgyzstan. Tokon Mamytov, who temporarily resigned for the period of the 2021 elections, will not return to the post of Ombudsamn. Office of the Institute of the main human rights activist of the country confirmed the information to 24.kg news agency.
Two deputies and the head of the Office remain acting so far.
According to the Constitution, the date for the election of the Ombudsman is set by the Parliament. The Committee on Constitutional Legislation, State Structure, Judicial, Legal Issues and Regulations shall announce the deadlines for accepting notifications from candidates running for this position.
