Kyrgyz women who suffered from breast cancer are outraged by the closure of the Mammology Center. They intend to gather at the building of the Cabinet of Ministers today and appeal to the President with a request to keep the medical facility.
Shaiyr Sagynbaeva, the director of the workshop for cancer patients «Together for the Sake of Life», told 24.kg news agency that it was decided to reorganize the center into a department. Some of the employees have already been fired, and one of the doctors was hospitalized due to stress.
«For many years, women, including those from low-income and vulnerable families, have been treated at the Mammology Center at the National Center of Oncology and Hematology. This terrible disease leads to suffering and death. For this reason, many children lose their mothers, families are destroyed. Women in the prime of their lives become disabled and cannot become mothers in the future, and this is already a social problem of our state,» the statement of the cancer patients says.
It is noted that more than 10,000 women from different regions of the country have been examined, consulted and treated at the Mammology Center for more than 15 years.
«There are more than 5,000 of us — women with the breast disease. Where will we be further examined, observed and treated? This is a cry from the soul of women who want a long and happy life next to their loved ones. Dear Sadyr Nurgozhoevich, we ask you to protect us, protect the Mammology Center and the doctors working in it,» the women ask the president.
