Observers of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the CIS noted the activity of youth in the parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan. Member of the mission, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee of the Federal Assembly of Russia for CIS Affairs Kazbek Taisaev said today at a briefing.
«Today we saw a lot of young people at the polling stations. I don’t know what parties they voted for, but the fact that they managed to reach out to young people in order they come to vote is nice,» he said.
Kazbek Taisaev added that the observers did not record any violations. «We visited more than 10 polling stations, we chose them ourselves. I would like to note the good work of the CEC in training members of precinct election commissions. We talked with them at the polling stations — they are well aware of their functions, legislation, all conditions have been created for voters,» he added.
Deputies of the seventh convocation of Parliament are elected in Kyrgyzstan today. The electoral system was changed in the country, so there will be 90 deputies instead of 120. As a result, 54 deputies of the Parliament will be elected according to the proportional system (open lists of candidates of political parties) in the single electoral district, 36 deputies — according to the majority system in single-mandate constituencies.
