Parliament deputies visit scene of conflict on border with Tajikistan

Meeting of deputies of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan with the local population took place in Kok-Tash village on Kyrgyzstan-Tajikistan border.

Residents of the border village voiced their demands to the deputies, in particular, to solve problems with electricity, delimitation and demarcation of borders, to allocate social subsidies to them.

Local residents said that they had no hope that the authorities would solve their problems in the near future.

Deputy Karamat Orozova promised that all the issues and problems voiced by the villagers would definitely be raised in the government.

Deputy Torobai Zulpukarov noted that there were certain procedures for solving border issues. Now, he said, a special commission was working on this issue.

«There are certain procedures. When the commission comes to a definite agreement, they submit the documents for discussion to the Parliament. The Parliament should consider the issue in three readings, and then the documents should be ratified by the President. After boundary is delimited, engineers will begin work. You know that we have delimited 75 percent of the border with Uzbekistan. There were conflicts in Charbak village, too, but iron fences are installed there,» Torobai Zulpukarov said.

He noted that the deputies would set tasks for the government. «We don’t want votes from you or something else. Thank you for the voiced requirements. We will be happy if we can help,» the deputy added.

Recall, a conflict occurred in Ak-Sai village, Batken region, on Kyrgyzstan-Tajikistan border on March 13-14. According to preliminary data, citizens of Tajikistan wanted to prevent construction of Ak-Sai — Tamdyk road. There are victims from both states.
