Means from fight against corruption to be spent on construction of new schools

The funds transferred to the special account as a result of the fight against corruption will be primarily directed to the construction of schools in the regions and Bishkek city. The President Sooronbai Jeenbekov said at a meeting with the Minister of Education and Science Gulmira Kudaiberdieva.

The head of state noted that some educational institutions were overcrowded, while the other lack schoolchildren.

This happens, in part, because parents send their children to schools that are considered as the best in the city in terms of the quality of education.

«This indicates the need for a thorough analysis of the situation and the implementation of reforms in the secondary education system,» said Sooronbai Jeenbekov.

At the schools, where the classes are overcrowded, the question of construction of additional buildings must be solved, and in those settlements, including near Bishkek, which have no schools, it is necessary to build new general educational institutions.

«There should not be any problems, there are enough funds for construction of schools. In addition, money from a special account, which was opened for funds received as a result of the fight against corruption, will primarily be directed to the construction of schools in the regions and in Bishkek,» he said.

The head of state stressed that the construction of new schools would continue.

At least 149 new schools are being built in the republic now, 78 schools will be put into operation by the end of this year.

The President recommended the Minister of Education and Science, together with the Bishkek City Administration, to conduct a thorough analysis of the state of schools in the capital in order to create the same conditions for education in general education institutions.
