Kyrgyzstan – only EEU country with growing migration

«The potential for growth in the temporary migration from the countries — members of the Eurasian Economic Union has been exhausted. The only exception is Kyrgyzstan, the growth of migration from which continues,» the publication «Monitoring of the Economic Situation in Russia» by experts of the Economic Policy Institute says.

Experts note that the republic takes the fourth place in the number of its citizens in Russia. As of June 1, 2018, there were 4.2 million migrant workers in Russia, who officially entered the country" to work for hire.«

More than 96 percent of the migrants in Russia are from the CIS countries.

«Compared with the last year, the number of labor migrants from Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Belarus increased slightly, but significantly decreased from Ukraine and Moldova,» the study says.

By June 1, 2018, the migrant workers had 1.85 million valid permits for work (work permits and licenses). About 1.1 million people had the right to work without such documents (citizens of the EEU countries).

«At least 69 percent of all labor migrants had a potential opportunity to work officially. This is 5 percent higher than in the beginning of last summer,» experts say.
