The term of the detention of the former head of the National Energy Holding Aibek Kaliev has been prolonged. The Supreme Court informed 24.kg news agency.
The former official will be in custody until August 13. His lawyers appealed the measure of restraint and asked to release Aibek Kaliev under house arrest. Bishkek City Court hearing is scheduled for June 21.
Aibek Kaliev is charged with corruption. He was arrested on April 19. The former general director of Electric Stations JSC Salaidin Avazov is also in custody.
In addition, the former Prime Minister Sapar Isakov, ex-Minister of Energy, acting deputy of the Parliament Osmonbek Artykbaev, another former head of the government Zhantoro Satybaldiev and ex-mayor of Bishkek Kubanychbek Kulmatov were arrested. All of them were charged with corruption.
