Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan completing demarcation of border areas

The Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan, Mukhammedkaly Abylgaziev, in Dushanbe met with his Uzbek counterpart Abdulla Aripov. The press service of the government reported.

It is specified that the bilateral meeting took place in Dushanbe within the framework of the next meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of Government, which will be held on June 1.

Mukhammedkaly Abylgaziev stressed that 2017 was a truly breakthrough year in Kyrgyz-Uzbek relations.

«We highly appreciate the established mutual trust and strategic partnership with Uzbekistan. In 2018, the year of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries, we intend to expand and deepen the Kyrgyz-Uzbek cooperation and interaction, not lowering the pace taken last year,» said Mukhammedkaly Abylgaziev.

According to the Prime Minister, the Government of Kyrgyzstan attaches priority importance to expanding trade and economic relations with Uzbekistan.

The heads of state earlier set a goal to increase the trade turnover to $ 500 million by the end of the year.

The Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic stressed that it is necessary to support and intensify the work of the Council of Plenipotentiary Representatives of Kyrgyzstan in the border areas and the hokims of the border regions of Uzbekistan.

«I am glad that the work on completing the demarcation of the remaining sections of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek state border continues according to the principle: from simple to complex. And there is already great progress in this matter. We should also actively continue this work,» he concluded.

In his turn, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Abdulla Aripov, noted that the relations between the two countries developing today could be called a new milestone, the foundation of which was laid by the heads of the two states.

«We must make every effort for the positive development of the economies of the two countries. Trade and economic relations should be priority in our cooperation. We are ready for open cooperation and creation of all necessary conditions for this,» said Abdulla Aripov.

He also informed that Uzbek enterprises were ready to export their products to Kyrgyzstan and also see Kyrgyz products on the Uzbek market.

«We must continue to work actively to open joint ventures in two countries. In addition, it is encouraging to note the cooperation of three regions of each of the two states, which is developing in the right direction. This confirms the deepening of bilateral relations between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan,» the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan added.
