Askarbek Shadiev taken into custody for 2 months in absentia

The deputy of the Parliament and the former vice prime minister, Askarbek Shadiev, was taken into custody for two months in absentia. The Supreme Court confirmed the information to 24.kg news agency.

The Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek reportedly chose the measure of restraint yesterday evening. The Supreme Court of the Kyrgyz Republic noted that within 48 hours Askarbek Shadiev should be detained.

Askarbek Shadiev’s lawyer, Uchkunbek Karimov, explained to 24.kg news agency that an investigator is to take a decision on putting his client on the wanted list. The location of the suspect of an official crime is unknown. However, the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic claims that the person under investigation did not leave the Kyrgyz Republic.

The Prosecutor General’s Office opened a criminal case against Askarbek Shadiev on April 28.

Askarbek Shadiev, according to the investigators, indicated unreliable information that money was contributed to the secretariat of IPA CIS, thereby facilitating the allocation of $ 30,000 in the form of an award to Arsen Zakirov, head of the department of the parliamentary committee on international affairs, defense and security.

Earlier, Arsen Zakirov was arrested. He was detained after check and initiation of a criminal case under the Articles «Appropriation or embezzlement of entrusted property» and «Forgery, production, sale or use of forged documents, state awards, stamps, seals, forms» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
