The tough criticism against the security officials should be followed by the actions of the President Sooronbai Jeenbekov. Abdyrakhman Mamataliev, ex-deputy prime minister for the security and law enforcement issues, stated to 24.kg news agency, commenting on the results of the Security Council meeting.
According to Abdyrakhman Mamataliev, for the first time in many years the head of state publicly spoke about all the shortcomings of the leaders and officers of the security forces.
«Everyone knew about untouchables in law enforcement and fiscal structures. Everyone was talking about this, but behind closed doors. Finally, Sooronbai Jeenbekov voiced it. I did not expect this from the president,» said Abdyrakhman Mamataliev.
The former vice prime minister noted that now it is necessary to carefully detect who is behind the systemic corruption.
«I believe that it is necessary to initiate criminal cases against the leaders, in the departments of which corruption is flourishing, and to dismiss them. There must be a purification. The fight against corruption should not be in words, but in deeds,» he stressed.
Abdyrakhman Mamataliev added that after the president’s criticism against the law enforcement agencies there should be a personnel reshuffle.
«After such an open statement by the president, the public and international organizations will watch the next step of Sooronbai Jeenbekov. Honest people should come not only to law enforcement agencies, but also to the government. The government has recently been turned into some kind of experimental laboratory,» said Abdyrakhman Mamataliev.
Yesterday, a meeting of the Security Council was held in Ala-Archa 1 State Residence. This was the first meeting chaired by the new president of the country. The members of the Security Council considered the issue «On actual measures to combat corruption in judicial, law enforcement and supervisory bodies of Kyrgyzstan.»
