Human rights activists intend to initiate withdrawal of Kyrgyzstan from EEU

A rally is planned to be held near the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Bishkek. This was stated at a press conference by the coordinator of the Congress on Human Rights in Central Asia Tursunbek Akun.

According to him, the rally, which is organized by public organizations, is scheduled for November 3 at 10.00 near the diplomatic mission of the neighboring country. The application for the rally was submitted to the Bishkek Mayor’s Office on October 31.

As the human rights activist said, at the rally they intend to demand from the Kazakh leadership to simplify the process of crossing the border until November 5.

If after November 5 the border doesn’t open, we will turn to the new government of Kyrgyzstan with a request to initiate the country’s withdrawal from the Eurasian Economic Union.

According to him, the committee in which he works, since October 25, monitors the situation at the checkpoint Ak-Tilek.

«On October 27, the length of the traffic jam in front of the checkpoint on the Kyrgyz-Kazakh border was 9 km, 450 trucks stood in line. On October 31, the length of the traffic jam reached 10 km 300 m, and 570 trucks were waiting for theit turn. Our data coincided with the data of the Border Service,» Tursunbek Akun said.
