Visit of delegation of Kyrgyzstan celebrated as Independence Day of Uzbekistan

«The visit of the Kyrgyz delegation to Andijon was celebrated as the Independence Day of Uzbekistan,» President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev said at a meeting in a narrow format with Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev today.

The leader of Uzbekistan thanked his colleague for the invitation to visit the friendly country. He noted that this day the peoples of both countries waited a long time, and the presidents approached as best they could.

We had many questions that for years, 20-25 years, seemed to be solved, but not as needed for two friendly peoples.

«We have initiated changes in our Samarkand meeting. The spirit of this meeting laid the foundation for cooperation. We began to meet more often, talk,» Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

The President of Uzbekistan said that the peoples of the two countries were waiting for the day when they could visit each other. As an example, he cited the first visit of a delegation from Andijon to Kyrgyzstan and the return visit of the Kyrgyz delegation.

«When the delegation from Kyrgyzstan came to us, there was a big celebration. You know, we have such things on Independence Day. In Fergana, Namangan, Andijon, representatives of Kyrgyzstan were very much expected, welcomed, and very pleased. I think history would not forgive us if our relations were not put in place,» he concluded.
