For the first time in 17 years. Details of Shavkat Mirziyoyev's visit to Bishkek

The head of the foreign policy department of the presidential staff of Kyrgyzstan, Aizada Subakozhoeva, told the details of Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s visit to Bishkek, which will be held on September 5-6. It should be noted that the President of Uzbekistan will pay a state visit to Kyrgyzstan for the first time in 17 years.

Aizada Subakozhoeva said that within the framework of the visit, his meetings with the President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev are planned in a narrow circle and enlarged. Also, the head of Uzbekistan will meet with Prime Minister Sapar Isakov and the Speaker of the parliament Chynybai Tursunbekov.

«A number of interdepartmental and intergovernmental documents will be signed within the framework of the visit. The main final political document will be a joint statement signed by the presidents, which will reflect the intentions and plans for the development of bilateral relations. Another important document, which is expected to be signed during the visit, will be an agreement on the Kyrgyz-Uzbek border,» Aizada Subakozhoeva said.

At the meeting in Samarkand, the presidents of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan were instructed to intensify the process of delimitation of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek border. The work of the groups was activated and put on a regular basis, 16 meetings were held.

For today, 1,170 km of the common border is described. 217 km remain undescribed. Work on them will continue.

At the same time, the head of the foreign policy department of the presidential staff noted that all domestic procedures have been completed. Today, three profile parliamentary committees reviewed the agreement and approved it. The document is ready for signing.

«A new bright page in the history of Kyrgyz-Uzbek relations will be opened after the signing of the agreement on the state border. Its signing will help to activate the whole range of cooperation issues. The main emphasis will be on cross-border cooperation, on the implementation of joint projects. But even now we can state activation of cooperation in all directions, trade is growing,» Aizada Subakozhoeva concluded.

In addition to the meetings of officials, within the framework of the visit of Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Kyrgyzstan the meetings of businessmen of the two countries, relevant ministries and departments, representatives of the mayoralties of Tashkent and Bishkek are planned.

It should be noted that the last state visit of the first president of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov to Kyrgyzstan was dated October 2000. Shavkat Mirziyoyev will come to our country for the first time in the status of the head of state.
