Kyrgyz-Uzbek intergovernmental commission resumes work after 8 years

Eight years have passed since the 7th meeting of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek intergovernmental commission for bilateral cooperation, delimitation and demarcation of the border. This is quite a long break, the Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbai Jeenbekov stated at the meeting of this commission.

According to him, Kyrgyzstan warmly met the words of the head of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev that the main priority for Uzbekistan is Central Asia.

He noted that «new favorable prerequisites have been created for the activation of cooperation in Kyrgyzstan, such as using the opportunities of the GSP + to enter the markets of the European Union, entering the markets of the EEU, we need to adopt a roadmap for trade and economic cooperation.»

At a meeting with his colleague the prime minister said that they came to an understanding that the development of two peoples is impossible without the removal of restrictions and barriers.

«They noted the need to renew the checkpoints at the border, move and transit cargo, implement joint investment projects, establish joint ventures, logistics centers and processing enterprises,» the head of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan said.
