Nomination of candidates for presidency begins today

The nomination of candidates for the presidency in Kyrgyzstan will begin on June 15, the Deputy Chairman of the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda Abdyjapar Begmatov said.

According to him, the next day after the publication of the parliament’s decree on the appointment of the presidential election date, the process of nominating candidates begins. Those who intend to run should collect at least 30,000 voters' signatures, make an electoral deposit and submit to the CEC the decision of the party congress on nomination as a candidate for the post of the head of state.

According to him, the Central Election Commission approves the calendar plan for the preparation and holding of elections, as well as the cost estimate. Self-nominees instead of the congress decision fill in and present the form of the established sample. Registration of candidates ends 75 days before the election.

The Parliament approved a decree on the appointment of the election of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic for October 15. In this document, the government, state bodies and other organizations were given instructions to hold the upcoming voting. The decision comes into force from the date of its adoption.
