According to the agency, the nomination of candidates will start on June 15, four months before the voting day. Registration of candidates for the main post in the country will stop 35 days before the start of the race.

The leader of Akshumkar party Temir Sariev, the leader of Respublika party Omurbek Babanov, the head of Onuguu-Progress party Bakyt Torobayev have announced earlier their intentions to run for presidency. The political council of the ruling party SDPK nominated incumbent Prime Minister Sooronbay Jeenbekov as its candidate. The leader of Ata Meken party Omurbek Tekebayev, who was arrested on corruption charges, does not conceal his presidential ambitions.
