Improvement of election process discussed in Cholpon-Ata

Representatives of ten CIS countries, near and far abroad (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Turkey, Georgia, and Mongolia) discussed improvement of election law and process at the first Issyk-Kul Election Forum in Cholpon-Ata. Press service of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Kyrgyzstan reported.

The event is also attended by representatives of international organizations: CIS Executive Committee, Organization of Turkic States, Interparliamentary Assembly of CIS member states, TURKPA, A-WEB, OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek, UN Women in Kyrgyzstan, International Foundation for Electoral Systems in Kyrgyzstan, state bodies and civil society organizations, deputies of the Parliament and independent experts.

«The goal of the forum is to discuss a wide range of issues related to the improvement of legislation and law enforcement practice, implementation of electoral technologies and exchange of the accumulated experience in the area of election law and process,» the CEC noted.

Nurzhan Shayldabekova, chairperson of the CEC, noted that the forum is a good platform for open dialogue, discussion and constructive cooperation, search for innovative solutions to the challenges faced by all our electoral authorities.

At the event the participants have the opportunity to get acquainted with the experience and achievements of other countries in the field of improving the election law and process, and exchange views.
