The European Union is interested in holding fair and transparent elections in Kyrgyzstan. The EU Special Representative to Central Asia Peter Burian stated. The EU Delegation to the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
According to it, during his visit to Kyrgyzstan, he met with the Chairwoman of the Central Commission for Elections and Referendums, the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, deputies of the Parliament, as well as representatives of the civil society. In addition, Ambassador Peter Burian met with the heads of foreign diplomatic missions and representatives of international organizations.
«My visit to Bishkek was timely, as we could once again stress the European Union’s interest in holding fair and transparent elections in Kyrgyzstan, in the existence of a strong civil society and free press. The commitment of the European Union to support the Kyrgyz authorities in carrying out reforms in these areas was also reaffirmed," Peter Burian said after the visit.
