Mass detention of Kyrgyzstanis in Moscow: Labor Ministry’s commentary

Representative office of the Ministry of Labor, Social Security and Migration of Kyrgyzstan in Moscow reported that a meeting was held with compatriots detained during a raid in one of the bathhouses.

The victims were asked to write statements, but they refused. Everyone is provided with legal assistance.

The Ministry of Labor specifies that 22 people out of 24 previously detained have been released. Work is underway to release the rest.

The representative office of the ministry sent appeals to the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, the Moscow Prosecutor’s Office, the Human Rights Commissioner in the Russian Federation and other authorities with a request to take appropriate measures.

Earlier, a video filmed in a bathhouse was posted on social media: security officers in balaclavas and unknown individuals with red armbands beat men, lay them face down and force them to crawl into a room where other detainees are already lying.

The Foreign Ministry of Kyrgyzstan summoned Russian Ambassador Sergei Vakunov and handed him a note with a request to provide information on the grounds for the operation carried out by law enforcement agencies, as well as on the use of force against citizens and, in the event that the use of force is unjustified, to take appropriate measures against representatives of Moscow law enforcement agencies regarding this incident.
