Telegram platform office will be opened in Kazakhstan. Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the republic, Zhaslan Madiyev, said at a meeting with representatives of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and tech giants Meta and Apple.
The parties discussed issues related to the security of personal data, the fight against fake accounts and user protection.
«We are also actively cooperating with Telegram to promptly remove illegal content and block destructive channels. In accordance with our legislation, Internet platforms Telegram, WhatsApp and TikTok must now have a representative in Kazakhstan. An agreement has been reached with Telegram on the appointment of their representative and opening of an office. This is an important step to increase control over content,» Zhaslan Madiyev noted.
According to the Ministry of Digital Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, work is also beginning with Meta to combat fraudulent schemes.
The founder of the platform Pavel Durov visited Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan in the summer of 2024.
