During the 57th session of the UN Human Rights Council, the member states unanimously adopted a joint resolution aimed at eradicating domestic violence. The initiative developed by Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan received broad support from all Council member states thus highlighting the importance and urgency of this issue on the international stage. The Foreign Affairs Ministry of Kyrgyzstan reports.
In its statement, the Kyrgyz delegation emphasized that the primary goal of the resolution is to establish global standards focused on preventing and eradicating all forms of domestic violence. It was also noted that domestic violence is not confined by the borders or cultural distinctions, affecting individuals across the globe.
This resolution is the first of its kind in the history of the UN Human Rights Council, specifically addressing the issue of domestic violence, underscoring the importance and necessity of global action to eliminate this phenomenon.
