Kyrgyz Girl sculpture unveiled in Germany

A bronze sculpture «Kyrgyz Girl» was unveiled in Erfurt, the capital of the German state of Thuringia, on October 7. The ceremony took place as part of the Welcome Day for Foreign Youth event on the territory of the local Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Germany posted on Facebook.

«The sculpture, created by Kyrgyz artist Tamila Mamatova, has become a symbol of the desire of Kyrgyz youth to study in Germany. «Kyrgyz Girl» is inspired by the famous painting «Daughter of Soviet Kirghizia» by Semyon Chuikov,» the statement says.

The unveiling was attended by distinguished guests, including Prime Minister of Thuringia Bodo Ramelow and Kyrgyz Ambassador Omurbek Tekebaev.

The project was supported by both German and Kyrgyz parties, including former Kyrgyz PM Omurbek Babanov, one of the sponsors of the sculpture.
