We are making confident steps towards energy independence. The President of the country recently launched Bala-Saruu HPP, and construction of an HPP on Papan reservoir will start in the near future. The national project Kambarata HPP-1 is gaining momentum, a committee of representatives of international organizations and financial institutions has been established. The implementation of these projects will provide an opportunity for Kyrgyzstan to become a large hydropower republic,» he said.
Akylbek Japarov added that the Kyrgyz economy is maintaining a steady pace of development, social facilities and residential buildings are being built, and roads are being reconstructed.
The capacity of the HPP will be 21 megawatts. The project was officially approved by the Cabinet of Ministers as part of the Anti-Crisis Action Plan. The contract for the construction of Orto-Tokoi small HPP was concluded between the Chinese company China National Machinery Industry Corporation (CNMIС) and Chakan HPP.
«China is one of the main partners of our country and its market is like an ocean. The day will come when Balykchy will become a developed city like Shanghai or Hong Kong,» the head of the Cabinet of Ministers concluded.
