President Sadyr Japarov addresses Kyrgyz migrants

President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov addressed Kyrgyzstanis in connection with the International Day of Migrants. The press service of the head of state reported.

Sadyr Japarov reminded that based on the UN General Assembly Resolution, International Migrants Day is celebrated annually on December 18. Kyrgyzstan joined the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families in 2003.

I would like to express my gratitude to my compatriots who, working in all corners of the world, provide invaluable help and support to their families and the country as a whole.

Sadyr Japarov

«Thousands of examples can be given when migrants showed cohesion and love for the homeland, extended a helping hand to citizens in need. This was especially evident when the state was going through hard times. In general, those who are in migration invest in the development of the republic’s regions, contributing to the implementation of social, economic, cultural and other projects. Such care and responsibility on their part is the highest example of patriotism,» he said.

The President said that the government is taking appropriate measures to support its migrants within the framework of the Concept of Migration Policy for 2021-2030. Everything possible is being made to stabilize migration processes and mitigate the factors causing the migration flow by implementation of state programs.

«There are significant advances in redirecting the migration potential of citizens in the interests of the country, ensuring the protection of the rights of compatriots in host states, as well as immigrants and stateless persons. Gradually, the flow of labor migration will be diversified and provided with favorable economic conditions, legal and social guarantees,» the address says.

Sadyr Japarov is sure that national unity, peace and harmony should become the main values of the republic. Only then will the path to a bright future be uniform, and you will be able to overcome any difficulties and achieve your goals.

«I wish all our compatriots good health, success in conquering the peaks and striving for progress! May your dreams and goals come true, and the sense of patriotism grow stronger!» the head of state concluded.

Last year, about 1 million people came from Kyrgyzstan to work in Russia. According to the results of the first half of 2023, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation recorded a significant increase in the number of arrived Kyrgyzstanis — 460,000. This is 45 percent more than in the same period of 2022. According to the World Population Review, 27 Kyrgyzstanis leave for migration every day.
