Mayor of Uzgen detained for involvement in organized crime group

The mayor of Uzgen, Damir Monoldorov, was detained for involvement in an organized crime group. The press center of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS) reported.

He was detained as part of a criminal case under Article 139 (threat of use of violence dangerous to life and health) of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as on suspicion of participation in the activities of Kamchi Kolbaev’s organized crime group.

It was found out that the mayor of Uzgen, in order to achieve his selfish goals, systematically used the capabilities of members of the organized crime group to intimidate persons he disliked.

«In particular, it was found out that, under the threat of violence, certain representatives of the criminal world demanded from a civil activist to stop criticizing the work of the mayor, and not cover it in the media, otherwise they threatened to cause serious harm to his health. They were detained and placed in the pre-trial detention center of the SCNS for Osh city and Osh region,» the security services reported.

The SCNS is taking measures to identify other people involved in the crimes.

The crime boss Kamchi Kolbaev was eliminated during a special operation in Bishkek on October 4. The press center of the SCNS reported that the leader of the organized crime group was detained, who offered armed resistance during detention and was killed.
