The Investigative Alliance of Belarus found out that former president of Kyrgyzstan Kurmanbek Bakiyev and some members of his family use several passports. The data is presented in the latest material posted on the YouTube channel.
According to investigators, the fugitive leader of the Kyrgyz Republic himself has passports with the surnames Bakiev and Saliev.
«This is a violation of Belarusian laws,» it is noted in the video.
It is known that Kurmanbek Bakiyev obtained two passports for himself in different names and with different ID numbers. In the second document, as investigators found out, he is Zakir Saliev.
«Not only Kurmanbek Bakiyev, but also his relatives, including his younger brother Zhanysh Bakiyev, nephew Asylbek Saliev and others received two passports. Thanks to Belarusian documents, the Bakiyevs clan traveled not only throughout the CIS countries, but also throughout Europe,» the journalists said.
Kurmanbek Bakiyev was overthrown on April 7, 2010. The opposition held a rally against family-clan rule. Weapons were used against protesters and more than 80 people were killed.
Kurmanbek Bakiyev, his son Maxim and brother Zhanysh were sentenced in absentia to long terms of imprisonment on a number of charges.
After escaping from Kyrgyzstan, the Bakiyevs settled in Minsk; Maxim Bakiyev lives in the UK with his family.
