Sadyr Japarov and Serdar Berdimuhamedov discuss mutual trade

President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov met with the head of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov. The press service of the head of state reported.

The parties discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation, including trade, economic and energy spheres.

Sadyr Japarov noted that Kyrgyzstan attaches great importance to the expansion and qualitative development of trade and economic relations, considering Turkmenistan as a significant economic partner.

He stated that over the past two years, trade turnover has increased and amounted to about $82 million. Contacts between representatives of business circles have intensified. As a result, trade and economic interaction is developing dynamically. However, the indicators still do not correspond to the total economic potential.

The President outlined the interest of the Kyrgyz side in further strengthening and expansion of cooperation with Turkmenistan, implementation of new promising projects in the field of trade, investment and logistics to unlock this potential. In this context, the role of the Intergovernmental Kyrgyz-Turkmen Commission on trade, economic, scientific, technical and humanitarian cooperation was outlined.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that the decisions made and documents signed would contribute to the expansion and deepening of effective partnership between the Commonwealth countries. He stressed that Kyrgyzstan is a fraternal state for Turkmenistan, and expressed readiness to continue fruitful cooperation with the Kyrgyz Republic in all areas of mutual interest, including in the trade and economic sphere.

The President of Turkmenistan noted with satisfaction the increasing volume of mutual trade between the countries, outlining the need to maintain this dynamic and find new opportunities for its further growth.

The state leaders agreed to further strengthen and expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
