Rosatom intends to build a wind power plant in Kyrgyzstan. The website of the Russian state corporation says.
«NovaWind JSC (wind energy division of Rosatom) and the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund (RKDF)signed an agreement on the development and implementation of the investment project on construction of a wind power plant in Issyk-Kul region» the statement says.
It is noted that Rosatom is interested in the implementation of renewable energy projects in the Kyrgyz Republic and the development of comprehensive cooperation with friendly countries.
«We have extensive experience in the construction and operation of wind farms. Nine wind farms are already successfully operating in three regions in southern Russia. The total capacity of the company’s implemented wind power projects has reached 1 GW. Rosatom specialists will make every effort to effectively contribute to solving the problem of energy deficit in the republic,» Grigory Nazarov, General Director of NovaWind JSC, said.
According to Artyom Novikov, head of RKDF, the fund’s portfolio includes seven projects in this area with a total capacity of 500 megawatts. Among them are construction of five small hydroelectric power plants, restoration of one small hydroelectric power plant and construction of a 100 megawatt hydroelectric power plant. A project for the construction of a solar station in the Issyk-Kul region is underway.
«Kyrgyzstan has a huge stock of resources for development of renewable energy sources. The current decisions taken by the Cabinet of Ministers will make it possible to develop the renewable energy sources at an accelerated pace. Active attraction of investors is the Fund’s priority in terms of reducing the energy deficit in the Kyrgyz Republic. Solution of this problem will allow, in particular, to open more industrial enterprises in the country, which will steadily replenish the budget,» Artyom Novikov said.
