Asian Games: Kyrgyzstan takes 18th place in medal standings

The 19th Summer Asian Games have ended in the Chinese Hangzhou city. The team of Kyrgyzstan took the 18th place in the medal standings.

At least 162 athletes represented the republic. They competed in 23 sports.

The national team of the Kyrgyz Republic has 15 medals — four gold, two silver and nine bronze.

These Asian Games was a triumph for Kyrgyz athletes. For the first time in history, a judoka from Kyrgyzstan reached the finals of the Asian Games. Erlan Sherov won a gold medal.

Akzhol Makhmudov, Zholaman Sharshenbekov and Aiperi Medet kyzy also won gold medals.

Kyrgyzstan also set its new record in terms of gold medals at the Asian Games in China. The previous record was set at the 2018 Asian Games — then Torokhan Bagynbai uulu (jiu-jitsu), Darya Maslova (athletics) and Aisulu Tynybekova (wrestling) won gold medals.
