Problems with SWIFT: Korean bank also imposes restrictions on Kyrgyzstan

The Korean correspondent bank of Kyrgyzstan banks has established restrictions on SWIFT transfers in U.S. dollars. Bakai Bank reported on its official page.

«From October 6, 2023, at the request of the correspondent bank Kookmin Bank (Seoul, Korea), SWIFT payments of bank clients in U.S. dollars will be made only in favor of banks, the list of which is posted at the link,» the statement says.

The remaining banks have not yet reported any changes in work with correspondent banks. Kookmin Bank is the main bank through which dollar transactions were processed.

The German Landesbank has stopped SWIFT transfers in euros outside Europe. Because of this, a number of domestic banks, for which Landesbank was the only correspondent bank, also encountered problems.
