Kyrgyz Temir Zholu: No problems with transit of oil products through Kazakhstan

«There are no problems with the transit of oil products through Kazakhstan to Kyrgyzstan, there will be no shortage of fuel and lubricants in the country,» Kyrgyz Temir Zholu National Company told 24.kg news agency.

According to its data, the General Director of Kyrgyz Temir Zholu Azamat Sakiyev met with the Chairman of the Board of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy Nurlan Sauranbayev today in Astana (Kazakhstan). They discussed topical issues of cargo transportation and noted an increase in the volume of cargo transportation for the first nine months of 2023.

The volume of cargo transportation by rail between the countries increased by 10 percent compared to the same period last year and amounted to 4 million tons. Transit to Kyrgyzstan through the territory of Kazakhstan increased by 11 percent to 2.6 million tons.

«The parties have agreed on plans for joint transportation of cargo in transit through the territory of Kazakhstan in full, primarily for socially important goods,» Kyrgyz Temir Zholu assured.

Kazakhstan Temir Zholy agreed on the volume of transit of oil products in the amount of 144,000 tons for October. At the same time, 24,500 tons of oil products are on their way to Kyrgyzstan.

Participants of the meeting noted the absence of problematic issues in the passage of transit cargoes through Kazakhstan to Kyrgyzstan, including oil products.

«Information about stopping the transit of fuel and lubricants from Kazakhstan to Kyrgyzstan is unreliable and does not correspond to reality; fears about the emergence of a shortage of oil products in the market of Kyrgyzstan are groundless. To date, the railway administrations of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan fully control the movement of cargoes and are in close contact in order to ensure uninterrupted and stable delivery of cargoes to the destination. According to the agreements reached, Kazakhstan Temir Zholy will ensure timely coordination of incoming transit cargoes through the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan to / from Kyrgyzstan,» Kyrgyz Temir Zholu concluded.

Earlier, the Association of Oil Traders reported that a shortage of fuel and lubricants is possible in Kyrgyzstan in 20 days because of problems with the transit of fuel.
