President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov signed amendments to the Law on External Migration. Press service of the head of state reported.
The law was adopted by the Parliament on June 29, 2023 to streamline the stay of foreign citizens in the country and improve control over migration flows.
The concept of a visa-free regime is set out in the new version. This is a regime under which citizens of a foreign state have the right to enter, leave, go in transit, move and stay in Kyrgyzstan without a visa within the established time limits stipulated by the regulatory legal acts of the republic and/or international treaties.
The visa-free regime introduced by Kyrgyzstan unilaterally or on the principles of reciprocity is in force on the basis of regulatory legal acts approved by the Cabinet of Ministers.
The Cabinet of Ministers is given the right to completely or partially suspend the visa-free entry to Kyrgyzstan at the agreed proposal of the authorized state bodies in charge of national security, health and foreign affairs.
The procedure for entry, exit, transit, movement and stay of citizens of a foreign state on the territory of Kyrgyzstan without a visa, for whom a visa-free regime is applied, is also determined by the Cabinet of Ministers.
