The border guards of Dostuk-Avtodorozhny checkpoint prevented illegal transportation of squirrels across the state border. The Information and Communication Department of the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS) reported.
«On March 27, during border control, the border patrol detained a 43-year-old citizen of Uzbekistan who was trying to take 13 squirrels from Kyrgyzstan. The cages with squirrels were in three backpacks and were covered with personal belongings. The man had no documents for the animals,» the statement said.
The detainee and the animals were handed over to the competent authorities for further investigation.
