The Moscow Times notes that about half of well-known Russians have recently received citizenship of Kyrgyzstan. Previously, they lived in Moscow.
In particular, The Moscow Times, citing the director of Transparency International Russia, Ilya Shumanov, reported that, in addition to the former governor of Tver Oblast Dmitry Zelenin, the daughter of Mikhail Barshchevsky, the plenipotentiary representative of the Russian Пovernment in the highest judicial instances, Natalya Barshchevskaya, obtained the passport of Kyrgyzstan.
It is specified that the probable sons of a businessman, the owner of Fragrant World Valery Zadorin, Alexander and Mikhail, also received citizenship of the Kyrgyz Republic. Anton Shkurenko, co-founder of Bitzlato crypto exchange, also became a citizen of Kyrgyzstan. In February, he was arrested in Moscow at the request of French investigators. He is suspected of extortion committed by a group of people, data theft and gaining access to an automated data processing system, and money laundering.
According to The Moscow Times, the former Moscow financier Mikhail Zhukhovitsky received citizenship of the Kyrgyz Republic along with his family.
The businessman admitted that he helped about ten friends from Russia get a passport of the Kyrgyz Republic.
