Education Minister proposes to open training centers for IT specialists

It is necessary to open training centers for IT specialists in the cities of the regions, which should train more than 2,000 people annually. The Minister of Education and Science of Kyrgyzstan Kanybek Imanaliev said at the Central Asian IT Forum (IT Business Forum, Central Asian Tech Awards 2023) in Bishkek.

He noted that the world is developing dynamically, the era of digital technologies and artificial intelligence has come.

«Kyrgyzstan has no access to the sea, but digital technologies open up new and great opportunities for us. We, the Kyrgyz, like the first nomads, quickly adapted and became digital nomads. We need to create opportunities for learning in this area, starting with kindergarten. Schools should have modeling and programming lessons,» the official said.

He stressed that it was planned to open an IT academy under the president at the premises of professional lyceum No. 99, and graduates of IT courses should be able to develop software products and web applications to promote e-business.

Each IT specialist brings $30,000-40,000 into the country, and this gives $400 million a year for GDP growth.

«Our goal is at least 10,000 IT professionals who will work around the world,» he added.

According to the minister, the National Olympiad in Robotics and Automation should be held annually.

The IT forum is attended by representatives of Amazon, the University of Washington, delegations from Japan and Korea, who are interested in cooperation with IT companies and universities that have information technology departments. The agenda of the event includes an analysis of startups for entering international markets, consulting sessions on them, creation of an alliance of educational institutions to interact with partners from Germany, Korea, the USA and Japan, and the presentation of Tech Awards for achievements in the field of IT.
