Indestructible Brotherhood exercises to be held in Kyrgyzstan – CSTO

Military exercises of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Indestructible Brotherhood will be held in Kyrgyzstan instead of Armenia. The head of the CSTO Joint Staff, Colonel General Anatoly Sidorov reported.

According to him, during the exercises, the participants will work out the implementation of «tasks of post-conflict settlement in the crisis zone» and «conducting a peacekeeping operation.»

Anatoly Sidorov also commented on Armenia’s refusal to hold exercises on its territory, noting that their postponement is the right of any CSTO member state.

In January, the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan said that the republic’s Ministry of Defense informed the CSTO Joint Headquarters about the inappropriateness of holding exercises in the country.

Earlier, Kyrgyzstan also refused to participate in the CSTO exercises on the territory of Tajikistan. The active phase of the joint exercises Rubezh 2022 began on October 17, 2022 in the Republic of Tajikistan. Kazakhstan, Russia and Tajikistan took part in them. The Kyrgyz Republic refused to participate in the exercises, having informed the CSTO Secretariat in advance.
