The CSTO drills will not take place in Armenia in 2023, RBC reports, citing the statement of the country’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
According to the media outlet, Armenia considers it inappropriate to conduct CSTO exercises in the country. The Prime Minister Pashinyan noted that the Armenian Defense Ministry has already informed the organization of its decision.
«The Minister of Defense of Armenia informed the CSTO Joint Staff that in the current situation we consider it inappropriate to conduct CSTO exercises on the territory of Armenia,» Nikol Pashinyan said at a press conference.
He added that this would not happen at least this year.
The CSTO is working out proposals on the possibility of conducting exercises on the territory of other member states of the organization instead of Armenia, TASS reports, citing the Joint Staff.
