Invasion of Kyrgyzstan: Schools in Maksat and Arka villages resume work

Schools in Maksat and Arka villages, Leilek district, destroyed during the conflict on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border in September 2022, were put into operation after a complete reconstruction. Press service of the Ministry of Education and Science of Kyrgyzstan reported.

According to it, classes in these secondary schools began in a normal mode from January 23.

«At least 3,279,760 soms were spent on the repair of the secondary school in Maksat, 1,576,082 soms — in Arka village. Repair work began on December 12,» the ministry said.

Shooting began at several sites of the border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan on the morning of September 16. Settlements in Leilek and Batken district came under fire. The Ministry of Health reported 206 victims, 63 people were killed. As a result of the armed conflict on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, residents of seven villages in Batken and Leilek districts, as well as Dzhekendi village in Chon-Alai district of Osh region, left their homes.

The Prosecutor General’s Office of Kyrgyzstan opened a criminal case on crimes against peace.
